Tim Gunn shames the fashion industry for a lack of plus size designs

Late last week  Huffington Post contributor Ellie Krupnick interviewed Project Runway’s Tim Gunn. In the interview Gunn lambasted the mindset of fashion designers who refuse to expand their repertoire past a size 12. Gunn goes on to say that the state of some plus size retailer’s offerings are so sparse and depressing that ” if I were a size 18, I’d throw myself right out the window [after seeing those clothes].”

What do you think readers? Are you plus size? Do you feel like your fashion needs are ignored in the industry? Do you feel like no one is designing for your body-type? How do you deal with these issues? Do you have your clothes tailored? Do you make your own? Would you like to see more designers gear towards plus size fashion?

We want to hear from you.

My name is Autumn and in my current incarnation I am a Features writer for the Charleston Gazette. I love fashion & step to the beat of my own inner design-team. My parents once told me, "You can be anything you want to be when you grow up." I misunderstood I thought they said, "You can be EVERY thing you want to be." and I've spent my life trying it all. I like to design and sew some of my own clothes and I enjoy playing with new makeup and I spend way too much time perusing fashion and DIY blogs. I also homestead so I am always reusing and repurposing things for fashion's sake.
